Dominique Preyer
Music Supervisor

Spin Cycle Films co-owner, Dominique Preyer is an experienced music licensing professional with a background in music publishing and songwriting. He has served as executive producer and producer on two short films, music supervisor on over 15 films, and many endeavors in which he’s demonstrated marked expertise in music licensing.

Before turning his energies to the film industry and music supervision, Dominique first feel in love with music back in 1974. He bought his first guitar at the age of eleven for only ten dollars. This was the start of his long road to being a music supervisor. Songwriting became a big part of his life during the late '80s and into the early '90s.

Soon after moving to Nashville, TN in 1993, Dominique began working at Mercury Records Nashville. Learning how a record label works would later come to play in his career. After a short stay at Mercury, Dominique began working at Acuff-Rose Publishing (now owned by Sony/ATV Music Publishing) where he worked as a copyright assistant. This is where his knowledge of licensing music for recording artist as well as for films and television grew. This experience has become an essential asset to his role as a music supervisor in the film industry.

While Executive Producing the short film The Spin Cycle that his wife, Jamie Preyer, wrote, Dominique realized that someone had to license the song used in the film. This was the catalyst that started his music supervisor career. With his background in music publishing it was an easy step into the film industry.

Dominique has music supervised for such feature films as, I'll Come Running, Deadly Obsession and The Lights. Short film credits include The Funeral Singer, The Spin Cycle, Jo FM and Me, Myself & I. He has also music supervised several documentaries such as Year At Danger, Light, Bright, Damn Near White and Ruby's Town.

Dominique was a panelist on the Reel Women's Workshop entitled, "Music & Your Film." He is looking to start workshops about music clearance and licensing to help educate the filmmakers and songwriters/artist. Visit the Workshop page for more information.

Dominique is also a music publisher. Through his Play Any Key Music and Durgon Style Music publishing company he has a cut "The Lyin' King" on Carmen's "Place In The Heart" CD. "Morning Has Come" was licensed in the comedy film A Halfway House Christmas. Since his main focus has been music supervision, the publishing side has slowed down with plans to rev up the business in the near future.
